People analysis systems for an intelligent train station

Mobility is a central and global challenge. Train stations are not just vitally important in today’s world; their importance will only increase in future. This is why rail operators rely on intelligent solutions to counter capacity limits during peak periods as well as to increase passenger security and comfort.
With help from ASE, Netherlands Railways (NS) was able to assess key information for decision making in planning a SMART Station. In the course of a successful cooperation with Royal Haskoning DHV, ASE analysed the situation at several Dutch train stations, using high-end people counting software, which allowed second-by-second measurement with an accuracy of 98%. Key data were recorded directly in ASE’s Diamond Reports web reporting, from which precise key figures relating to safety and comfort were determined and assessed.
