In the year 2012 the web based maintenance software EMS was implemented by ASE for GEIII. With EMS, the GEIII plans, controls and reports on the maintenance activities of the operating and security equipment of the national roads in the canton of Valais. The GEIII conducts this in behalf of ASTRA. The EMS should now be replaced by the maintenance software SMARTEQ, considered to be EMS’s successor. Not only is SMARTEQ visually much more appealing, but the web application has been updated in terms of its user-friendliness. Further, the range of functions have been extended and the configuration options of the maintenance management broadened.
The territorial unit III has assigned ASE with the task to replace the existing maintenance tool EMS with SMARTEQ. This upgrade will be led by ASE. ASE is responsible for setting up SMARTEQ and for the training of all employees with the new application. After the introduction and commissioning, ASE ensures the smooth operation of SMARTEQ.
Initially, ASE set up the application and performed the necessary upgrades of the data base and the data model. In addition, a data backup on a daily basis was established. The application received the usual customizing, in doing so the client logo and the address for the reports and exports was initiated. ASE adjusted further the user list and prepared the task management for operation. At the same time user-specific trainings on topics such as master data, directories and task management were conducted.
The entire BSA-maintenance process of the territorial unit III is integrated into SMARTEQ. The employees can undertake the entire task and order planning, scheduling and reporting in SMARTEQ. Furthermore, they can fill in the clear inventory with additional information regarding producers, suppliers etc. as well as creating detailed reports of the inventory, the equipment and facility conditions as well as the maintenance activities. SMARTEQ is considered a consistent and logical information repository and information source for all operation and security equipment.
