Visitor Traffic in the Old Town of Zofing: Precise Insights Thanks to ASE Measurement System

Zofingen's old town, with its picturesque buildings and narrow alleys, is a vibrant meeting place for residents and visitors. The town aims to maintain a high quality of stay in the future and expand its attractiveness as a focal point. This should be implemented in harmony with the needs of the various users and interest groups. ASE was commissioned to carry out measurements to determine a reliable data basis. Data collection takes place at Niklaus-Thut-Platz, Kirchplatz, and Alter Postplatz. This will give the municipality a comprehensive overview of the use of public space.

The counting is completely anonymized and complies with the Federal Act on Data Protection. No personal data is stored or processed. The system only measures movement flows and vehicle frequencies without identifying individual people.

The data shows daily figures for people and vehicles, as well as their temporal distribution. The analysis of parking space occupancy is particularly valuable, as it provides insight into the utilization of parking areas. Since the old town of Zofingen will continue to be accessible by car, at least in part, the municipality relies on reliable data to optimally manage traffic and urban development. The effects of construction sites or events can also be assessed factually.

For local businesses, the measurement data provide important insights into visitor frequencies and ideal times for activities or events. At the same time, the community benefits from an objective basis for new mobility concepts and infrastructure projects.
